In March 1990, the company was founded by Dirk Weitemeyer and Till Kahle
Design of software for mobile sampling of air pollution in an environmental network for TÜV Norddeutschland.
In 1991 the new area of design and manufacturing of PLC and CNC based machines for water treatment plants was started.
In 1993 the client server system Weikalab for quality data in the industry was released. Start of a strong cooperation with Oracle.
At the same time, Weikatec DocFlow was released as a system to manage document flow in ISO 9000 quality management systems.
In 1996, Weikatec started using their Oracle expertise for consulting.
Also in 1996, the first e-commerce application by Weikatec, www.otto.de was released. It is the database driven on-line catalogue of the world's largest mail order retail company.
Since that time, several on-line catalogues on the Internet and on CD-ROM have followed.
Also in 1996 our first Java applet was deployed on the Internet. It is used for the encryption of credit card information in an e-commerce application.
In 1997, CORBA was added to Weikatec’s base technologies and application design shifted to a multi-tier paradigm. World-wide Intranet applications are using our CORBA technology.
In 1998, besides Oracle, CORBA became a second focus for the consulting activities.
In 1998, our first application, WeikalabCE, for mobile computers based on WindowsCE was released.
In 1998, our ORB implementation Orbsidian took CORBA to the Internet, reducing the footprint size of an Applet from 800KB to 20KB.
In 1999, Weikatec took a leading role in a joint series of supplier assessments of Y2K compliance for Europe's leading semiconductor manufacturers.
